My PC is HP a6128hk which has been downgraded to Windows XP Pro since i
was bought 2 years ago and has been working fine.

- two weeks ago an iphone 3GS and a Sony DSC-TX1 DC were bought
- cannot get them connected to my PC
- meanwhile I may have done something wrong and eventually resulted in

1) memory cards reader icons disappeared, and no longer working;
2) two usb at the back (from mother board) does not response to an
devices (but the LED light is working when the view cam plug in); jus
discovered that there are two more usb at the front which are no
working as well (I have never used them in the past)
3) five unknow devices appears in the device manager

I have tried many methods but cannot fix it, i.e.

a) followed HP website guidelines

b) contacted HP engineers 3 times and followed their instructions
i.e.
- update chipset
- reset cord for the memory cards reader at the front

c) followed some advises by Shenan Stanley and Paul (Thank both)

Sony device connected?

The problem was fixed by installing another Windows XP on another drive
Now I have two Windows XP in my PC. The new one works fine, while th
old one is still having the same problem.
