Dell Inspiron6400 synaptic driver download problem
(too old to reply)

Hello dear life savers,

I have recently reformatted my hard drive and now find that my touchpad
will no longer perform its scrolling functions.
I have attempted to download the appropriate driver (or at least what I
think is the appropriate driver) from Dell.com (Inspiron 6400 Synaptic
Driver R120179.EXE) but for some reason my computer does not seem to
want to run the installation.

I hit download on the website, chose the save option. Once its
downloaded I click to open it but then after a brief moment an error
message pops up indicating "there are no files to download. Please go to
Downloads and Drivers to select file". Problem is, the driver is not in
either of those files either!

Does anyone have any ideas what's going on here?

I am hesitant to download it from another source.

Thanks for your help!

No problem if you use
ftp://ftp.dell.com/input/R120179.EXE
